Lenten Fish Fry-Days – “Gotta Haddock”

    - 11am-Midnight -

Prosperity’s most ordered fry features a generous portion of flaky haddock covered in a fluffy blanket of beer batter and complemented by homemade slaw, zesty house tartar sauce and rich, mac-and-cheese ($14). Diners hungering for more can always add two homemade potato pierogi ($5) or a piping hot cup ($4) or bowl ($5.50) of made-from-scratch New England clam chowder to any fish dish. Or they can order a supersized fish fry that has it all—a scoop of mac-and-cheese, side of slaw, cup of chowder AND two potato pierogi with caramelized onions and a dollop of sour cream—for $22.

We call our ultimate fry ‘Gotta Haddock’ and this year we have a Sibling Revelry Brewing private label ‘a lure-ing’ pilsner by the same name,” says Flinner. The clean, light-bodied 16-ounce Cleveland beer sells for $6. “It’s an easy drinking brew that pairs well with cheese or fish . . . in fact diners tell it’s a great complement to just about anything on our menu.”

Prosperity fish dishes will also include a maple bourbon glazed salmon with roasted broccoli and sweet potato mashers ($15) and a pan sautéed shrimp piccata served over linguine ($13). Or diners can go truly meat-free with a plate of potato pancakes ($9), farmhouse cheese ($9) or potato pierogi ($10).

The popularity of Prosperity Social Club’s Fish Fry grows with each passing year. Now in its 13th Lenten season, Flinner says Chef Ed Kubitz is gearing up to prepare more than 2,000 fried fish meals over the course of seven Fridays. To meet demand, the kitchen will open early on Fridays at 11am and serve fish-centric meals until midnight. “During Lent you can sit down for Friday lunch in Tremont or pickup something to take back to the office,” explains Flinner. And for those nine-to-fivers not ready split a big platter with their lunch buddy or coworker in the next cubicle over, Prosperity offers some smaller midday portion options. Lunch-only specials include The Minnow (two pieces of beer battered haddock and slaw) and a fish sandwich (with lettuce and tomato on a toasted bun)—both served with tartar sauce, hand cut chips and tangy homemade French onion dip.

Reservations for groups of 2 – 12 are recommended, but casual walk-ins also welcomed.
